چکیده

N-body simulations of dark matter halos show that the density profiles of halos behave as ρ(r) ∝ r−α(r), where the density logarithmic slope α ≃ 1 ∼ 1.5 in the center and α ≃ 3 ∼ 4 in the outer parts of halos. However, some observations are not in agreement with simulations in the very central region of halos. The simulations also show that velocity dispersion anisotropy parameter β ≈ 0 in the inner part of the halo and the so called ”pseudo phase-space density” ρ/σ3 behaves as a power-law in radius r. With these results in mind, we study the distribution function and the pseudo phase-space density ρ/σ3 of the center of dark matter halos and find that they are closely-related.

Modeling Pairwise Peculiar Velocity Distribution Function of Dark Matter from Halo Density Profiles

We derive the pairwise peculiar velocity distribution function of dark matter particles applying the dark matter halo approach. Unlike the previous work, we do not assume a Gaussian velocity distribution function of dark matter in a single halo, but compute it self-consistently with the assumed density profile for dark matter halo. The resulting distribution function is well approximated by an ...

Distribution of Dark Matter in Bulge, Disk and Halo inferred from High-accuracy Rotation Curves

High-accuracy rotation curves of spiral galaxies show a steep rise in the central few hundred pc region, indicating high concentration of mass toward the center. Using the rotation curves, we idrectly calculate radial distributions of the surface-mass density (SMD), and obtain radial profiles of the mass-to-luminosity ratio (M/L). The M/L ratio is found to vary significantly not only in the mas...

The cross-correlation between galaxies and groups: probing the galaxy distribution in and around dark matter haloes

We determine the cross-correlation function between galaxies and galaxy groups, using both the Two-Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Groups are identified using the halo-based group finder developed by Yang et al., which is optimized to associate those galaxies to a group that belong to the same dark matter halo. Our galaxy-group cross correla...

Dark matter halo occupation: environment and clustering

We use a large dark matter simulation of a cold dark matter ( CDM) model to investigate the clustering and environmental dependence of the number of substructures in a halo. Focusing on redshift z = 1, we find that the halo occupation distribution is sensitive at the tens of per cent level to the surrounding density and to a lesser extent to asymmetry of the surrounding density distribution. We...

The Local Group is a small galaxy cluster with the membership of 47 nearby galaxies including our Milky Way. Through statistical analysis of the Local Group data, we find that the positions of the member galaxies in the center of luminosity frame are preferentially aligned with the line in the direction of the equatorial coordinate, RA=21h18.56m and DEC=59d7.15m. Taking this direction as the ma...
